Rev. Mac Bellner
ASSISTANT PASTOR
Mac Bellner (“Pastor Mac”), originally from the Deep South, became a thoroughly adopted Hoosier in 1971. She studied at Bellarmine University and the University of Louisville, completing her BA in Sociology at Hardin-Simmons University (Abilene, Texas).
While working in various roles in social services and higher education, Pastor Mac also served in several congregations: as a youth pastor in a United Methodist congregation; as a director of Christian education in a Disciples of Christ congregation; and as an elementary age music teacher in a Catholic school.
Pastor Mac responded to a call to ministry, and in 2015 completed both the MDiv and MTS degrees at Christian Theological Seminary. Ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), she has been assistant pastor at BCPF since 2021.
Pastor Mac also has been a curator, interpreter, and performer of folk music most of her life. She cut her musical teeth on Stamps-Baxter gospel, spirituals, and classic juke box country music. She found her main music niche in folk music, and soon developed a love for teaching history through folk music.
Pastor Mac performs regularly in many regional venues: Conner Prairie Living History Museum, Indiana State Museum, Eiteljorg Museum, Indianapolis Art Museum, Children’s Museum in Indianapolis, the Indiana State Fair Pioneer Village, and many other venues. For thirty years she was on the artist roster of the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the Indiana chapter of the Arts for Learning (Young Audiences) as a Teaching Artist. In these roles she has been awarded numerous fellowships and awards.
Pastor Mac has recoded twelve albums and performed as a soloist and with other musicians throughout the United States, Ireland, England, Scotland, and South Africa.
